The Gluten Free Cheat Sheet Book Review

If you have read my blog, or my submissions for My Life With Food Allergies, you know that I really love cookbooks. Today I have the pleasure of reviewing The Gluten Free Cheat Sheet by April Peveteaux. I was given the book (for free), but the opinions are all my own (non-affiliate link). April Peveteaux writes with sass and humor. This book is part “how to go gluten free” and part cookbook. It is a must-read for the newly “going gluten free” person; anyone who needs to go gluten free whether due to Celiac, intolerance, wheat allergy, or auto-immune diseases … Continue reading

Allergy Free Cookbooks-A Brief Review of My Cookbook Collection

Recently I received a free copy of the cookbook Finally, Food I Can Eat by Shirley Plant. This is more than a cookbook. It could be called a guide book. The first 45 pages are chuck full of all sorts of information ranging from food substitutes, food additives, replacements, common allergens, food combining, and food families etc. The rest of the book contains recipes in every category which are free from dairy, wheat, yeast, soy, eggs, corn, sugar, nuts and nightshades. It is important to state that while this book does contain a lot of naturally gluten free recipes, it … Continue reading

Dairy Free Ice Cream by Kelly V. Brozyna- Cookbook Review

July is national ice cream month. So what better time to talk about a new dairy free ice cream cookbook!?!? (The author did not ask me to write this, I just chose too). As I happen to have a July birthday, my husband bought me the cookbook Dairy-Free Ice Cream – 75 Recipes Made Without Eggs, Gluten, Soy, or Refined Sugar.   I love reading and perusing through cookbooks, but I think it was also a subtle (or not so subtle) clue to make more ice cream. 🙂 This cookbook is BEAUTIFUL! It is one of the prettiest cookbooks I have … Continue reading

Gluten Free Focaccia Bread Recipe and Bread Mix Flour Blend from Cybele Pascal’s The Allergen-Free Baker’s Handbook

The Allergen Free Baker’s Handbook by Cybele Pascal is an excellent cookbook for any person on a gluten free or allergy free diet. The cookbook contains all sorts of recipes from cookies, muffins, cakes, pies (and more) to yeasted baked breads.   In this cookbook Cybele Pascal has created two flour blends—one for her sweet baked goods, and one for her yeasted or savory baked goods. Her flour blend for her bread recipes is so excellent I use it for many of my own recipes that I want to share with you, my readers. So, I reached out to Cybele … Continue reading

Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats Allergy-Free & Vegan Recipes from the Famous Los Angeles Bakery – Cookbook Review

I love cookbooks. So when Debbie Adler, author of Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats Allergy-Free & Vegan Recipes from the Famous Los Angeles Bakery, sent me a complimentary copy I was thrilled.   Debbie is the owner of Sweet Debbie’s Organic Cupcakes in L.A. If I’m ever in Los Angeles…I’m heading to that bakery for sure!   I like to read cookbooks almost like a novel…from front to back. This cookbook was no exception, and I couldn’t put it down. Today, cookbooks are more than just recipes. They tell stories. Debbie has a witty sense of humor that shows up in the … Continue reading
