Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats Allergy-Free & Vegan Recipes from the Famous Los Angeles Bakery – Cookbook Review

I love cookbooks. So when Debbie Adler, author of Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats Allergy-Free & Vegan Recipes from the Famous Los Angeles Bakery, sent me a complimentary copy I was thrilled.   Debbie is the owner of Sweet Debbie’s Organic Cupcakes in L.A. If I’m ever in Los Angeles…I’m heading to that bakery for sure!

Sweet Debbie Cookbook

I like to read cookbooks almost like a novel…from front to back. This cookbook was no exception, and I couldn’t put it down. Today, cookbooks are more than just recipes. They tell stories. Debbie has a witty sense of humor that shows up in the head notes of every recipe. Her cookbook is also chuck full of information letting the reader/baker know just how healthy these treats are. (With high protein and no sugar, they can be healthy.)

Sweet Debbie’s Organic Treats Allergy-Free and Vegan Recipes is a unique cookbook. Every recipe is written with a “must have” (the ingredient list) and a “must do” (the method). Everything is clearly laid out, so even a new baker (or at least new to baking allergy free) will know just what to do.

Debbie’s recipes are free of gluten, eggs, dairy, soy, sugar, and nuts. Her recipes call for her own gluten free flour blend that you make yourself before you start baking the recipes. Her flour blend is different than any others I have seen with nutritious high protein flours. For sweetness, she relies on stevia and coconut nectar.

The pictures in the cookbook are gorgeous and inviting. Debbie has recipes for muffins, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, bars, donut holes, “breads” and unbaked goodies. They all look and sound fabulous. I honestly can’t decide what recipe I want to try first!

With the recipes in this cookbook you can have your cake and eat it too!
