Grain Free Sandwich Bread

Hello!  It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything.  I’ve been making a lot of the same things over and over and well, life gets in the way sometimes. But I wanted to share with you this bread recipe I’ve been making very often since last March.  It’s very easy and extremely tasty! This bread requires the use of a lot of eggs.  Thankfully, I’m at a point that I can tolerate eggs in baked goods, but not by themselves.  So, this bread may not be for you if you eggs are big no-no for you.  The best part … Continue reading

Make Your Own Chai Spice

If you ever find a recipe that requires chai spice, don’t buy it!  Make your own! For one, chai spice is hard to find.  Secondly, if you do find it, it will be crazy expensive. Now, finding the cardamom for the recipe can be expensive too, but you can find it online much more affordable.  I bought my on Swanson Vitamins (not affiliate). If you like to make your own seasonings you may like the following recipes: Jerk Seasoning Taco Seasoning Chai Spice From: Peggy of Allergy Free Test Kitchen Ingredients: 2 tsp. cardamom 2 tsp. allspice 2 tsp. cloves … Continue reading

Pillsbury Gluten Free Multi-Purpose Gluten Free Flour Blend-A REVIEW

So, I’m pretty fussy about my gluten free flours.  And you should be too!  Don’t settle on your flours.  They can make or break your recipe! So, I’m here to inform you that you can save your money and NOT BUY the Pillsbury Gluten Free Multi-Purpose Gluten Free Flour Blend. This blend simply does not work.  I couldn’t get it to work with several different types of recipes.  Recipes that are tried and true turned into flops! The blend is made of rice flour (package doesn’t say what kind of rice flour), potato starch, pea fiber (I’ve not seen that … Continue reading

About Gluten Free Oats, How To Make Quick Cooking Gluten Free Oats, and How to Cook Oats Fast For Breakfast

While oats are technically gluten free, they are often not gluten free due to farming practices and processing. Therefore, for anyone wishing to avoid gluten, (especially those with Celiac disease), it is imperative to buy “certified gluten free oats.”  This means they were grown on fields dedicated to oats only and not on a rotation with wheat or barely and processed in a gluten free facility. I used to buy Bob’s Red Mill certified gluten free oats in bulk and kept the extras in the freezer.  However, about 2 years ago, Trader Joe’s started selling gluten free oats and they … Continue reading

Nutty Chocolate Pudding

Who wants a chocolate dessert that is creamy, satisfying and allergy friendly? This quick-to-make dessert is sure to please even the finickiest of eaters and is gluten free, egg free, milk free, soy free, and corn free. Please do not be scared off by the avocado in it.  You really can’t taste it, but it adds such creaminess and richness!  Avocados are also a good source of good-for-you fats.  Yes, fat is not the enemy here! Make your own cashew butter (see how here) to keep the dessert cleaner; less sugar and additives! Enjoy this right away or chill it.  … Continue reading

Smoky Black Bean Dip

I love raw veggies and hummus and vegetable dips!  There is always something in the fridge to dip into. Now it’s time for a new twist! Introducing Smoky Black Bean Dip.  It’s just like hummus, only hummus is technically only made with chickpeas. This is really good with raw veggies and even tortilla chips.  Sometimes it comes out looking brown and sometimes it almost looks purple…which is fun and makes it more desirable to kids. Mostly Vegetable Smoothie

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything.  I’ve just been making the same ole things over and over. But with the advent of spring, warmer temps, budding trees, I’ve felt the desire to start making new things in the kitchen again. So, with that, I give you this mostly vegetable smoothie. It’s a perfect way to “detox” from all the heavy winter foods. This is one of those recipes where I just dumped ingredients in and took good notes.  And it turned out great! You need a high speed blender to get a really smooth texture for this surprisingly delicious … Continue reading

Creamy Tomato Soup – Gluten, Dairy, Egg and Soy Free

Oh those days of long ago!  Days when I would open a can of condensed tomato soup and crumble in an entire tube of Ritz crackers. Those long ago days are rarely missed anymore, but the memories linger as many memories are formed around food. Today’s recipe for tomato soup is not really reminiscent of those red and white cans of tomato soup. This is definitely a grown up version of tomato soup! You will never miss the gluten, dairy, eggs or soy. Nope! This soup is still satisfying, just a little more sophisticated. Adapted from this cookbook (non-affliate). Also … Continue reading
