25 Tips For Better Grilling

As I stand in my back yard I can see the back yards of 5 houses. It’s not optimum, but it is what it is. What I find odd, very strange actually, is that none of these people grill their meals. Like ever. We have a least 7 months where weather permits us to grill and I never see anyone grilling. And I’m outdoors a lot. It seems strange to me because grilling is such an easy way to prepare meals. Not only is it easy, it’s usually fast and healthy. Not to mention it’s very easy to make gluten … Continue reading

Mylan, Disney, Grilling Marinade and 3 Dip Recipes

I have some exciting news to share! But first, let me tell you about Mylan and Disney. Well, everyone knows about Disney! Mickey Mouse, theme parks, you know. Mylan is a pharmaceutical company; creators of the Epi-Pen. Mylan and Disney have formed an alliance to make Disney parks and cruise ships just a little more allergy friendly. For those with life threatening food allergies, taking any sort of trip is scary and carrying an Epi-Pen Auto Injector to treat potential anaphylaxis is a must! With this alliance in place, starting at the end of 2014, there are now Epi-Pen locations … Continue reading

Marinated and Grilled Pork Chops

The secret to grilling boneless pork chops is an easy 2 step process. Follow these simple guidelines and never have dry pork chops again! First, marinate, marinate, marinate. Shoot for 6-8 hours. Thirty minutes before grilling time won’t do it. Second, cooking time for boneless pork chops is super short. 8-10 minutes maximum! This all depends on your particular grill, how hot it heats, how far the grates are from heat source etc. etc. I have a very hot grill, even on medium heat. I generally cook boneless pork chops about 4-5 minutes on one side and then 3-4 on … Continue reading

Southwest Grilled Chicken

I grill well into autumn.  And I grill a lot of chicken.  I have about three chicken marinades that I rotate through and they are getting a little old.  So, I set out to find a new and different marinade to liven up our grilled chicken.   I adapted today’s marinade recipe from here.  It has a Southwestern flair to it so I renamed it Southwest Grilled Chicken.  If you like lime, you’ll love this.  If you are not crazy about lime, you may not like this so much. Happy Grilling! Also shared at Whole Foods Friday and Gluten Free … Continue reading

Grilled Hoisin Chicken

I love cooking summer food!  AKA…the grill!  What is better and easier than firing up the grill for a simple meal of protein and vegetables!?   So simple and fast…great for a hot day when you do not want to heat up the kitchen or for a day at the pool and not much time in the evening!   Grilling chicken is not hard.  It only takes a little forethought in making a marinade.  Granted, you don’t have to marinate chicken, but it is oh…so….good….if you do! This recipe is one of my family’s favorite!  I’ve adapted it from What Else … Continue reading

Grilled Asparagus

Despite the cold and gloomy weather I have started grilling season.  And one thing I love to grill is asparagus!   Asparagus used to be one of my least favorite vegetables, but it has now become one of my top 3 vegetables.  I think it is because of the grill.  There is just something about grilled vegetables.  It brings out an irresistible flavor.   If you do not care for asparagus, give grilling it a try.  It’s super easy.  Just wash, cut off the ends, and brush with olive oil.  Then place directly on the lowest grill rack.  Place the … Continue reading
